BRIEF

The Higher Institute of Engineering in 6th of October City was established by Ministerial Decree No. (1404) on 18 October 1994. The Institute operates under the Heliopolis Nozha Cultural Association and the Culture and Science City (csi.edu.eg).

The Institute offers two specialized programs leading to the Bachelor of Engineering degree in:

  • Construction and Building Engineering (CBE)
  • Mechatronics Engineering (MTE)

The Institute’s academic regulations were approved by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research under Ministerial Decree No. (1255) dated 10 October 2020. An earlier version of the regulations was approved under Ministerial Decree No. (163) dated 19 March 2018.

The equivalency of the Institute’s Bachelor of Engineering degree with the degrees awarded by Egyptian universities governed by the Universities Organization Law has been renewed as follows:

  • Construction and Building Engineering Department: Ministerial Decree No. (159), dated 29 May 2023.
  • Mechatronics Engineering Department: Ministerial Decree No. (160), dated 29 May 2023.

The Institute follows the credit‑hour system, structured over five academic levels (five years). Students begin with a general first-year curriculum and then specialize in one of the two engineering disciplines starting from the second level.

All academic programs comply with the reference framework issued by the Engineering Studies Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities (scu.eg) and adhere to the academic standards set by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) (naqaae.eg).

To earn the Bachelor’s degree, students must successfully complete no more than 180 credit hours. The curriculum is offered in English language to ensure global academic and professional compatibility.

 PROGRAMS

The Institute previously offered the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in four engineering disciplines:

  • Construction and Building Engineering (CBE) — Active Program
  • Information and Computer Engineering (ICE)
  • Administrative Industrial Engineering (AIE)
  • Mechatronics Engineering (MTE) — Active Program

Recently, the Institute streamlined its engineering offerings and now focuses on two core engineering disciplines:

  • Construction and Building Engineering (CBE)
  • Mechatronics Engineering (MTE)

ACCREDITATION

The Institute’s five-year undergraduate engineering programs are accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities (scu.eg) in Egypt. The curriculum is supervised and periodically reviewed by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education.

All programs are accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) (naqaae.eg). Upon graduation, students are eligible to join the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate (eea.org.eg).
